Sketch at 2S4U

Have you checked out "2 Sketches 4 You"? They post a new sketch every week. This week's sketch was:

Photobucket

I used a new picture of my daughters' as my inspiration. Here is my card using this sketch:

Photobucket

My favorite part are the 3D trees. I used pop dots to make them stand out from the page. I also used pop dots at the top of the picture to make it lean out slighty:

The card is actually white but I used ink to create the wood-toned border:

I also sewed around the outside edge of the patterned paper with a zig zag stitch, around the border with a straight stitch and used my machine (w/o thread) to create the paper pierced look around the photo:

I hope that you like it, wish me luck in the contest!!

Thank you very much for your kind words!!
I colour my images with distress ink refills and water.
I recently got asked if I knew of a tutorial and I found one - so I will share it with you too. Hopefully it'll help. (She's suuuper talented!)

Here's the tutorial - I hope you like it! :)

(I use my refills and a regular brush but the technique is pretty much the same. Even if she's way more talented than me! *smiles*)
