Today was my last day at my new job... I know, crazy. I had such a wonderful time working there even if it wasn't for as long as I had hoped. The people there were so friendly and made me feel welcome. A truly nice change of pace from the "other place" (not to name names and all). If any of you from CF&CS read this... thank you. :o)

Sketch at 2S4U
Have you checked out "2 Sketches 4 You"? They post a new sketch every week. This week's sketch was:
I used a new picture of my daughters' as my inspiration. Here is my card using this sketch:
My favorite part are the 3D trees. I used pop dots to make them stand out from the page. I also used pop dots at the top of the picture to make it lean out slighty:
The card is actually white but I used ink to create the wood-toned border:
I also sewed around the outside edge of the patterned paper with a zig zag stitch, around the border with a straight stitch and used my machine (w/o thread) to create the paper pierced look around the photo:
I hope that you like it, wish me luck in the contest!!

Progess...
I finally have a few things to show you! I am so totally not used to working a 40 hour week and I have been EXHAUSTED lately. Poor me. lol.
This card is for my cousin Dawson. He is 6 and complained to his mom that he never gets cards that are "just for him". So how could I resist, he has his very own robot card in the mail (hope he likes it!).
These are just a couple of quick bday cards I threw together:

And lastly, I got my RAK in the mail from Adrienne's sketch challenge. THANK YOU ADRIENNE! I love it all!! Here is what she sent me:
She is having a new challenge due by the end of the month. Check out her blog using the link on the right side of the screen. I will post a pic of my LO when I get it finished.

Yakima Bears Baseball Buddy
Emily's name was drawn to be a "yakima bears baseball buddy" tonight at the home game. She got a t-shirt, a baseball (signed by Boomer the Bear and the 1st baseman who was her "buddy) and got to run out onto the field with the players before the game started. I was really worried that she would wimp out (she is not all that outgoing, to say the least!) but she did great! Well, once I explained to her that she was not going to be responsible for hitting a home run (which she really thought she was going to have to!!). Here are a couple of pics of her tonight:

Kelly's Desk Set
Besides the cupcakes for Kelly's Birthday I also made her an entire altered desk set. Love it! Her fave color is black and she is pretty much addicted to stars so here is what kelly would look like, if she were a desk set:

Adrienne's 2nd Sketch
Adrienne has done it again! She has created another great sketch and is having a challenge on her blog (you can jump over to her blog by using the link to the far right under "my scrappy friends").
This sketch was much more challenging for me because of the circles and because of the paper I wanted to use and (as if I needed more of a reason to be stumped) because I wanted to use 3 pictures. But, I am very happy with the outcome!
Here it is, titled "Down at the Funny Farm" and features Kayla at West Valley Farm Days last month:
The picture I took does not do it justice. I will try to re-take the pic (I need a 12x12 scanner, someone tell my husband that's what I want for my Birthday Monday) and re-post. But I know Adrienne is anxious to see everyone's stuff so I wanted to get it posted asap. Hope I win this time!

I dream of you...
This is a LO i created for my LOVE of coffee! I know it is unusual to scrap without pictures... or journaling... or patterned paper... But I love it. The rub ons are by Bo Bunny and I made the pieced coffee cup myself. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!

An update
Wow we have been busy! We spent a week at Lake Wenatchee camping, swimming, playing, getting eaten by mosquitos, reading, hanging out. No scrapping, though. I am in withdrawal! We had a great time, though. I took lots of pics that I can't wait to scrap! We went into Leavenworth Friday afternoon for the 4th of July but it wasn't quite what we planned. It was ridiculously crowded and lacked the patriotic rush I love on our Independence day. So we left after just a little while and spent a few hours in Pashastin at a really cool Fruit Stand/Mercantile/Petting Zoo/Playground/Maze complete with a cow train. Yep. A cow train. LOL. I could never really describe it so I will get a pick up for you sometime relatively soon. Maybe. I am really bad. (hey, at least I'm honest!)
We got back into Yakima just before 8pm and the girls were still wound up and wanted to watch fireworks (who wouldn't??) so we went down to the Yakima Fairgrounds to the big festival thing they have there every year. My whole family (mom, sister, nephew, aunts, cousins, etc, etc, etc) were all there so it was really fun. The fireworks were great and they had a few shaped like hearts and stars. Very cool.
Saturday we crashed. SO EXHAUSTED! Then the girls went to my mom's for a few days (they were home sick for Grammy) and Jared and I had a date night. He bought me some new clothes in honor of my birthday/my new job. Then we had dinner at Outback Steakhouse (holy $65 dinner batman!) and watched a movie at home. "Fools Gold". Pretty good, funny enough to watch but not enough to buy.
Sunday we went to church and it was a really great message by Marah Jean Traub. It was exactly what I needed to hear. THANK YOU, LORD! It is amazing how He does that, isn't it?? Then we spent the afternoon together since we still didn't have any kids. I worked on my sister's birthday present. Her birthday is this friday. she will be 29. which means we will be the same ago until I turn 30 - gulp - on Monday the 14th. I can't tell you what I am making just in case she sees this (even though she prob won't). I'll put pics (for sure this time) when I get it done.
Today I started a new job at Catholic Family Services. So far it is great. I am really happy with it. I am going to be a "Records & Registration Specialist". I'll keep you posted as I go.
Well, that was a LONG post (in lue of scrappy pics). Enough for now, I say. TTYS!

see ya on saturday!
It is as hot as hell in Yakima!! We tipped over 100 degrees today! I am a melted puddle of misery right now!! Tomorrow we are leaving on our final vacation of the summer, seeing as I am starting a new job on the 7th. We are camping at Wenatchee Lake through the 4th. Then we are spending the 4th of July in Leavenworth, Wa. Then back home to the sweltering heat on the 5th. I am not taking any scrappy things with me (eek) and no computer (double eek). Just some good old fashioned camping fun with my hubby, kids and nephew.
Hope you have a great 4th of July, see you when I get back!

Coffee Board
I saw this galvanized board at Craft Warehouse yesterday and just had to play with it. I took their suggestion and made it into a message board (as it is magnetic). I really like the way it turned out. I especially like the chipboard girl on the bottom right. It is now hanging proudly by my front door.
The chipboard figure that I created using a blank figure, pp, inked the edges, magic coat and added the heart brad. I love her! I shall name her Sally Starbucks!
A closer view of the tags. I used rub ons and beads to embellish them.
what do you think?

Just Another Family BBQ
This LO was made using a June sketch from pagemaps. The LO features a pic of my cousin Kylie eating a burger at a family BBQ earlier this month. I don't know anyone else that could look pretty even when stuffing their face... damn you K-Rae!! The journaling reads:
"Everyone has a few certain things that they love about their family. I personally love the imromptu BBQs like this one we had at mom's house June 2008. I also love that my never-ending photo shoots don't cause my family to disown me!! Phew!"

Adrienne's Sketch
So my friend is trying her hand at creating sketches and I think she did an awesome job! Here is her sketch:
And my take on it:
She is having a mini-contest for it with a RAK if you submit to her blog your LO using her sketch. She needs all entries by the end of June. You can check her out by using the link on the right side of my blog.
Great Sketch Adrienne! It was totally fun to work with!!

A few cards
I am sort of in a card fetish right now. It's thanks to my Aunt Shannon. She gets so excited when she receives them (thank you Aunt Shannon, I love you!) that I want to spread the love. Here are two more:
This is for my cousin Donny. A congrats card for getting engaged to Melody:

This is a grad card for my Aunt Michelle (this post seems to be having a family theme...). I used my Quickutz Squeeze tool to make the circle and scalloped circle. I also used it to cut the letters out of adhesive backed paper. It worked really well and I love this font. Too bad new fonts are like $50! Ah well, I just got more shapes so I will play with those first. Ooops... I'm rambling. Here's the card! :o)

Crop Night Creations
I finally got brave and went to a Crop at Bella all by my lonesome. It was really fun! I will definately go again. :o) I didn't get a ton done (two layouts and two cards) but I didn't really plan on much so I am happy with what I got. It is MUCH different scrapping out of the safety of my scrap haven at home but it is really fun to talk scrap with fellow addicts. And Julie gives GREAT prizes! If you get a chance (and are in the Yakima area)... GO! It's a blast.
Here is what I got done:
This LO is about my sister and daughter. My daughter Emily practically worships "Aunt Molly". These colors and the whole LO fit Molly perfectly so I am very happy how it turned out.
A LO about my nephew. I had to document his rocker phase! He is 9 and has a pink mohawk. Today he got his ears pierced. His mom (Molly) said yes because she never thought he would go through with it. LOL... he did. So I guess that will be a whole other LO to create!
Two cards from that night. Both for the 4th of July. They aren't my faves but they turned out a'ight:

And that's it. But I got LOTS of new stuff that night so I am ready to play!
